Unique and very special present idea

Celia Gadd has written for years about other peoples animals, mostly in the form of articles for the variety of magazines she has been involved with and noted the obvious delight when people see the pictures of their animals in print. Books are a wonderful way of providing a real memoir, that will last forever and can be passed down through the generations.

All animals (and people) have a story to tell and this way you can indulge yourself by becoming absorbed in what your pet really meant to you.

Celia says,

"I have been so lucky over the years to have owned some really great horses and have recently spent much time thinking about some of my earlier equine companions.

Owning a horse is a huge responsibility and a lot of hard work but it is time and money that is well rewarded if you manage to build up a really good relationship with your horse.

Every horse owner loves to tell tales about their own individual horses, and how each horse will have a unique aspect to his or her character which keeps their owners enthralled.

My first horse was called Rocky and to this day I am very grateful to him for all he taught me about horsemanship, stickability and perseverance.

They say that Rome wasn’t built in a day and all successful horse riders know that it takes years of training and hard work to make it in the world of competing. Even if you have no interest in winning rosettes to become an established and confident horse rider does not come overnight and the more open-minded you are about learning, the more enjoyment you will ultimately get from your horses.

Rocky was a six year old failed racehorse when I bought him. He was skinny, sharp and difficult but there was something about him that made me want to take up the challenge and although it was far from easy the satisfaction I got from working with this wonderful horse and gradually becoming successful at team chasing, eventing, show jumping and many other activities made the hours and bruises all worthwhile.

As our relationship developed, so his character came out and he was a thoroughly entertaining horse to have around. We certainly had our ups and downs, but created a true bond over time and life without him seemed pretty empty when he finally left us at the grand age of 27.

I have written a lot over the years about all sorts of horses, dogs and their owners and so the idea of Special Stories was born, with Rocky being the obvious starting point.

And so I have written his story, mostly for my own benefit but realise that it may be of interest to others as there are some interesting tips to pick up that may help anyone else who is in the process of re-educating a racehorse, or just muddling their way through the minefield of horse ownership.

After being asked several times by people to help them write their pets stories, Special Stories has now been created and can offer a unique service to any horse or dog owner".

There are three main choices of books on offer to you – all completely personalised and individual.

The Horses in my Life or Dogs in my Life series offers the full biography service. I will talk to you in detail about your pet and any stories, memories or anything that springs to mind that you would like included in their memory book. Any other necessary research will be undertaken to fill in the complete picture including pedigree etc.

The book with then be fully written, all photos included and be produced as a hard back quality finished product.

The Adventures Of… is a children’s story book, personalised with your own pet’s photos and can be chosen from a stock story, or written from scratch especially for you.

PhotoStory – this is the least costly option by which we will reproduce your pet’s photos and add captions and sayings as required giving you a lasting pictorial memory of your pet.
